Anti-ageing, Anti-Pollution Antioxidants?
According to a study in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, exposure to air and particle pollution significantly correlates to an increase in signs of skin ageing. Air pollution contains microscopic contaminants which help to produce “free radicals”, more formally known as Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Free radicals are incredibly damaging to the skin, they impair the skin’s barrier function which helps to retain moisture, keep out dirt and other impurities. Research shows, a compromised skin barrier can lead to increased skin sensitivity, discomfort and premature signs of skin ageing, especially pigmentation issues.
How can you protect your skin from air pollution and environmental stress?
This is where antioxidants come into play. They are without question, the most powerful anti-pollution ingredients available.
Why? Antioxidants work to intercept the damage-causing free radicals before significantly impacting the skin. Skin Nutrient™ uses antioxidants in nearly all of our formulations, we cannot get enough of them! They are also fantastic at reducing the signs of redness due to their potent calming properties.
